Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park
Grenada is home to the worlds first underwater
sculpture park, it is located just outside St Georges at
Molinere Bay. The park was created by Jason
DeCaires Taylor, an English artist, Sculptor and avid
diver.

Molinere bay was itself damaged by storm surge and
the sculptures are designed to assit the regeneration of
the area by providing habitat for both marine animals
to live and also new surfaces for corals to grow upon.
The park has played an important role in regenerating
this area and has given it a new dimension.

The sculptures now about 3 years old are all
flourishing or not as the case may be depending on
the materials they are made from and their location
within the park. The salt water if very distructive to raw
materials and the parts of their structure that are metal
are degrading quickly.

Because of this a small team of people, based here in
Grenada, have put together a plan to extend, maintain
and caretake the park. Already the first of the new
sculpture has been placed (February 2010) and each
year a new piece will be added to replace the existing
ones as they degrade.

At Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Eco-Tour we are
commited to assisting in the program and we hope to
be able to maintain the park for future visitors.

We have collected some pictures and video footage
that we hope you enjoy and we hope to be able to
show you the real thing when you visit Grenada.
